SecondLife Creators Create Website Creator!

Delta - Tech.co.nr,

And guess what? The website creator created by the creators of SecondLife is Ajaxified!  Rezzible, the spiffy, easy website creator that is sweeping the nation, is without a shadow of a doubt, the best Web 2.0 startup I’ve seen this year. We’ve seen some pretty darn impressive stuff, but this is great…

This might not even class as Web 2.0 - it’s that good. Can I coin the term Web 3.0 on this one? I suppose that the underlying technology is Ajax, a Web 2.0 language, but to the creative extent it’s been used is truly spectacular, and definitely a great thing for the end user or customer.

What is Rezzible? Simply put, an ajax powered, simple but effective website builder. Not just this, but also a hosting option or plan, strictly built to serve the users of SecondLife, the MMOG (Massive Multiplayer Online Game).

Built to be super-simple and intuitive, anyone can learn to build a Rezzible website in minutes.

I’ve gone on about simplicity, but it is one of the key things that entices users to come back, time and time again. No tricky menus, just the straight, pure, quality content. Look at the success of Wordpress and cPanel! If you’re into SecondLife, do take a peak at Rezzible though, or at the rather useful developers blog, Rezziblog. There, you can ‘read more about Rezzible as well as get up-to-date information on new products and feature updates’.

But what makes Rezzible the slick, simple thing I’m telling you it is? Well, why don’t you check out the video to see for yourself? Unfortunately, there’s no audio, and it’s only very brief. I on the other hand will provide a step by step explanation.

Well, start off by walking up to a Rezzible Kiosk (for a list, check out the Rezzible locations page or main website) and click on a booth. You fill in certain data, first name, surname, NAME.Rezzible.com, and a couple of other things, and off you go. Literally, straight off. Out the box. Pick a name for your website in a draggable mini-window, watch as the page is constructed, then edit the page straight off, using a fancy Ajax WYSIWYG. It’s really that simple!

Very, very easy, yet an effective way of updating your friends and family on your progress in this virtual world. Of course, they might not really care, but that’s not gonna stop me from loving Rezzible to bits. It’s a great concept, a great idea, and for once, has been put into practice very well.

On a side note to all of this hype I’m feeding you, I’d like to congratulate the Rezzible team for designing the best logo I’ve seen for a good long time. I’m a fan of logos (freakish it may seem, but I assure you, this is true!), and usually make up my mind about something, based partly on how good the little logo is. The logo seen above is a prime example though, of a simple, effective, eyecatching design that blends smoothly into the background, providing an aesthetic aftertouch, without being seemingly invasive or overpowering. Flickr, the photo sharing services also has managed to attain this high status, but not many other have come even close.

  • Hi there and thanks for the writeup, though I have to point out that Rezzible is a startup company with no ties to Linden Labs. Otherwise, thanks for the very very positive, engergetic post. :)

  • Wow. You’re welcome! I didn’t know that you weren’t related to Linden Labs. I got the impression you were. Oh well. Silly me!

Anyway, the real reason I’m commenting, is that I@m requesting an interview with you guys! Can You let me know at GTDelta@googlemail.com what you think.

I’d also like to ask if you can give me the name of the person who designed your logo. I can’t stop thinking, ‘Ooooh! Pretty!’ every time I see it.

  • You’re too kind. Actually, its was just me on that. Funny how a temp logo turns into something permanent.

  • Delta, Ray here. I just visited this location on secondlife (thats how you sign up) Please be informed that it is a paid service, it cost you 245 Lindens a week (!) If you want extra features such as a message board on your website, you’ll have to pay 600 Linden $. So, very commercial…

  • Yep Ray. We are residents of SecondLife building products for resale in SecondLife… like thousands of other residents do. If you see the video Delta mentioned, it does indeed show the user paying for the account. I totally overlooked the fact that Delta didn’t mention that. L$245 a week is exactly correct.

The message board you spoke of is a stand-alone tool to allow SL business owners to make announcements, etc just like notecard-configurable message boards do. The only difference is that we have a simple web interface for it instead of a notecard. And yep, its a
one-time outlay of L$600 and no subscription for that.

  • I was at a friend’s house with my friend on his account when he signed up to the Rezzible thing. I was completely unaware that you had to pay for it! Silly me as usual!

As I don’t have an account at SecondLife though, obviously I couldn’t test it out myself. Nevermind! I’m sure that when people go to sign up, it will be apparent. The reason for me not having an account is due to my age. Other than that, I’d already have one. But yeah…
