Record, Embed, Share, Comment – Online Video Only

Today Twango - the website for various media files sharing - has launched a new Webcam Video Widget. The widget enables a user to record a video clip with a web camera and embed it into a blog, website (MySpace profile, for example) or share it via email or IM. The widget automatically recognizes webcams from popular hardware manufactures (Creative, Logitech, Apple). It has a very simple and user-friendly interface to make video sharing as simple as email.
You do not even have to register with Twango to use the newly released widget - though as a user you will be to use some enhanced features: store the recorded video clips in your account and manage comments to the videos you created (for example, delete those you do not like for any reason).
And comments is actually what makes the new widget something unique - I would even use the word “revolutionary” here, no matter how hard I try to avoid it usually. The thing is that your readers can leave video comments to your embedded video - right in place.
And it really does not take much to start with the widget: you simply go to Webcam Video Widget page which detects your webcam (or tells that you don't have one installed), asks you to allow access to your camera and microphone and shows you the window to record the video with a large red RECORD button. And you can now start recording the 3-minute video clip right here. This window also allows you to preview the recorded movie. If you are satisfied with what you see, you can click on the “Save” button - this will give you the code to embed the video to a website and a link to share it.
This sounds and looks very simple. The only thing is that in my case it only recorded voice but did not record any video with my Genius webcam (I guess it is not a popular hardware manufacturer) - so I simply can not embed it here and encourage you to leave video comments. But I would really be happy if you go and try the widget for yourself with other webcams - and share your experience in the comments.

Very Nice! Go twango!
Does anyone know what language they used to write this widget?
What is the reason for not supporting all webcams…is it because it requires more coding to allow for more compatibility with other webcams?
Appreciate any answers for the above..as i haven’t got a clue!:)
No idea about the language, actually but I hope some guys from Twango give us more details here (both on the language and support of other webcams, which I think is something many of prospective users actually need), I’ll ask them at least for a comment here.
In the meantime we have just reported some fresh news from Twango at http://profy.com/2007/04/26/twango-sharing/, take a look at it, I think you will like it as well.
Video sharing sites are beginning to realize the importance of video sharing nowadays so they make it simple for the users to upload tag and share videos painlessly.
