Oh! Oh! Veoh!

Posted by Phil Butler on February 14th, 2007

veohWe received an invitation to check out the new features at Veoh, so let's see what is up at the popular video community. In case you don't know, Veoh is a unique community for distributing TV and video content. The Veoh player software enables users to distribute full screen TV quality video via broadband connection to sites around the world. Anyone from major movie studios to desktop PC users can broadcast their video over this secure platform.

According to out newest information, Veoh has added several helpful and interesting features, and a logo change which I list for you guys below:

Personalized Recommendations - Users can now get personalized recommendations in tune with their prior activity at Veoh. Much like Yahoo! radio stations, this tool helps Veoh customize your recommendations based on what you like to watch. Actually, Dr. Red Danning, Veoh's Chief Scientist, built the Veoh engine based on the Yahoo! Music system.

Veoh Pro Program - Veoh members can make money off of their videos. Pro users can use the “Pay-to-Rent or “Pay-to-Own” aspects of the Pro program to rent or sell exclusive access or ownership to get paid for their content. This may seem like a gimmick initially, but wouldn't you like to own some of the coolest video for your site? Pro users can also have their videos automatically uploaded to YouTube, MySpace Video and Google Video. Pro users also have the option of having their video automatically transcoded to their iPod. The system actually does all the work and can create iPod compatible RSS feeds.

Cross Site Reporting - Veoh also creates a one-stop-dashboard so that you can track the performance of your videos across all your major sites as illustrated below:

Blog Posting - Users can now post videos to Blogger, WordPress, MySpace and Facebook.

Upgraded Embeddable Player - Multiple videos can be embedded in a single line of code.

Upgraded Veoh Player- The optional downloadable Veoh player now supports downloading video from Veoh and RSS feeds, Bit Torrent trackers and the player has plugins for IE and Firefox. Now you will be able to essentially download video from any of the most popular sites. I like this a lot, as I have to work multimedia wonders with now in order to work with various video sites. A really neat aspect of this new player is the ability to remotely control the Veoh player while you sit back and watch on your TV screen.

Our Take - We were glad to hear from Dmitry Shapiro - CEO of Veoh Networks, Inc. who informed us of all these great new features. This site really rocks! I have to tell you guys, with the new features and the cool style of the site Veoh may very well be the most Web 2.0 site of its type. Depending on how Veoh integrates their advertising in to the carefully woven fabric of their current platform, I would make this my choice for video sharing. I actually signed up, and when I win my super computer on WeWin I will see which site suits my creative side better. You have to check this out if you are into video. I apologize for not adding video content here, but the new super computer has not arrived and if I open one more window or download one more widget my PC is going to slap me! Just click on the screenshot to be taken to this video for now please.

Veoh currently has 12.5 million unique users with a monthly growth rate of 20-30 percent. […]

Thanks Robin! I liked Veoh, it is a bit different. I have had some conversation with their CEO, he is a really good guy and I look for great things from them.
