Seven Special Valentine’s Day Logos

Today I have seen the new Google's special Valentine's Day logo on TechCrunch - I am sure someone in the company will have a really bad Valentine's day (and not because of being lonely but because of the logo). I think that Valentine's Day must really be a Web 2.0 holiday with so many companies engaged in it - even important enough for Google to use a special logo (definitely created in a hurry but still). I also hope you have had a chance to sing your heart out at Jamglue and done some good Valentine's Day shopping on Amazon (both websites offer options for Valentine's Day lovers and haters - so choose what suites you better). So I started to wonder if other Web 2.0 companies we write about daily have decided that Valentine's Day is important enough for them to change a logo - and after a long surfing process I have found 7 special logos for you to enjoy.

Orkut seems to be the only social network to change a logo for today - and since it really looks like the most romantic logo of all I've put it right after Google (though I somehow think that they just love modifying their logo - you can take a look at the one that marked Orkut's 3rd anniversary here). But anyway I was surprised not to find anything new on MySpace and Friendster - are not they the places where people look for (and frequently find) romance?

LiveJournal is the only blogging platform to change appearance for the 14th of February. And I must say this time its holiday logo looks much more appealing to me than the one the website carried for several weeks during the Christmas season.
Other romantic modifications come from Yahoo! with a couple of lovers under the same umbrella embraced by the second O, Ask.com with an absolutely special holiday's looks including the heart-shaped search button, and AOL (where only a small heart shows that it's not any other day of the year but the Valentine's).

So these romantic creations come from the websites some of us visit daily. But I can not help but mention one logo that I have found on a Russian website - the search engine named Yandex (rather popular among Russian users by the way). I understand perfectly well that you have never seen the usual logo so I put both versions below. And this design really seems to be well-done taking into account the engine's slogan that can be translated as “Everything Will Be Found”.

So these are the seven special logos I have managed to find myself. I hope that you will link to other special logos of Web 2.0 companies in the comments below. I do hope that together we will create a great collection.
Oh, and I have almost forgotten about that: congratulations!

Is it me or is the letter “L” in the Google logo missing. Googe.
It is actually missing - and that is what Michael Arrington’s post is about - somehow L is actually missing
I’m still sitting and waiting for someone at Google to be pinged about it: I guess it is not on purpose, after all
The ‘L’ is the little green stem on top of the strawberry.
cheers!
Do you really believe it or you have persuaded yourself? Well, this version can ring truth but when I look at it my eyes don’t see any L
Although it reads like “Googe” upon first sight, it might actually be done on purpose. I like the suggestion that the stem on top of the strawberry is the letter “L”. The shape isn’t convincing but as the color green is normally used for the letter “L” in Google holiday logo’s this might really be an attempt to make it read “Google”. True, the “g” and “l” are close together, almost inseparable, but that’s in the spirit of valentine.
Good theory, Theo. I like the inseparability thing
Yum… Chocolate strawberries! Great post Svetlana!
Thanks, David! Took some research
Update: Google obviously explains they have created the logo the way it is on purpose - kind of for celebration of the harmony between g and l. http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2007/02/strawberries-are-red-stems-are-green.html
Very interesting. Thanks!
