Twango - Easy Media Sharing For Everyone
by
on April 26, 2007,
We got a nice note from Twango asking us to check out their latest tweaks and features. It has been some time since our last review, so we checked it out for you guys. Twango has become a very popular media sharing site that allows users to upload photos, video or other files and then the ability to quickly embed the media into blogs and other sites.
The latest upgrade to Twango has infinitely simplified the homepage and users can now literally share media anywhere even if they are not members. That's right; visitors can now have the utility of Twango without even signing up. Members have extra flexibility of course, but anyone can now embed their videos with just a click from the new homepage via the free links provided.
The free links will never expire according to Twango's Jim Laurel, and Twango retains all the same flexibility as before while enabling everyone to quickly upload, embed or IM their favorite media anywhere on the Web.
I am not terribly fond of overly simplified homepages ala Google, but in Twango's case, and for the purpose of simplicity for users, this is really a thoughtful and appropriate change.
You will note the embed on the left and the screenshot I took of the resultant preview and code page after I uploaded this beautiful Shelby GT 500 convertible. This took seconds literally, and you can see the result. This was with no sign up, no navigation to remember and best of all it is free for everyone.
Twango is a really nice service that continues to adapt to the needs of its users and now people in general. Sometimes the nicest things come in the simplest packages and Twango gave everyone a nice gift of simplicity in an ever complex maze of services and signups. I like this service very much and it saves a bunch of time if you are writing a post and need to show your readers a video or some photos.
It is amazing how innovations evolve sometimes. Twango was never a really complicated service, but so many sites approach things from different angles, it is refreshing to see simple get even more so.
You say you want more? Okay, Twango also allows multiple file uploads, uploads of up to 100 MB, embedding of video and audio players, slideshows, tickers and more. Twango also lets everyone drive Jim's Shelby at top speed down the PCH and will pay all speeding fines! NOT! Come on, it is an upgrade not a fantasy, you will have to get your own Cobra.

I love Twango!
Thanks Robin, Twango is a cool site and easier than muddling through junk to just move a video
