RadiusIM isn’t just another site where you can combine all of your IM accounts at one time. What makes it special is its inclusion of maps, letting you know who is close by of the people you’re chatting with, including other users of radiusIM. In this way, you can make new friends based on your location, or other locations you search for. Another nice thing is that it is completely web based, so there’s no downloading necessary, and you can check to see who’s nearby while you’re online anywhere.

Based on the location you log into, your near by friends’ pictures will appear as the background to the IM screen, and some of the pictures will show up directly on the map where they are located. It’s a cool way to visualize where others are IMing from and make new friends who happen to be IMing near you.
