Indy Cars Get Joost as Web 2.0 Speeds Up

on May 27, 2007,
News today from the Indy 500 is that our buddies at Joost are going faster than ever before, now that the JoostTM logo screamed around the Brickyard at over 222 mph and placed 7th. The #2 Vision Racing/Honda/Firestone car driven by Tomas Scheckter finished just over 11 seconds behind Dario Franchitti, the winner of the 91st edition of one of the world's greatest sporting events. Joost users were treated to Web 2.0's first broadcast of “big time” Indy racing in the house of their first Web 2.0 team today.
2.0 Branding Race
Earlier this month IndyCar® Series and the Indianapolis 500 announced that fans would be able to watch Indy 500 programming on Joost, Web 2.0's poster child for Web TV. Joost and IndyVision make great partners and the Joost team is ecstatic over the partnership and branding of Scheckter's super-contending car according to a BusinessWire press release yesterday. It seems as if everything associated with Joost spells success and Joost marketing and programming strategy seems virtually without peer among startups.
“Seeing the Joost Vision Racing Car on the track tomorrow is quite a thrill for us, and we'll be rooting for Thomas and the entire Vision team, “said Yvette Alberdingk, executive VP of content strategy and acquisition for Joost.
The 500 on Web 2.0
The 91st running of the Indy 500 was a success for Joost and IndyVison, but also the source of some interesting numbers for race fans. Dario Franchitti is the 66th different winner of the race and according to iamIndy 442 million households watched him take the checkered flag today. Dario is the second Scottish born winner of the race and is the first to win both the 12 hours of Sebring and the Indy 500 in the same year. Franchitti is the 6th 34 year old to win the race and this is the 3rd time the number 27 car has won the coveted title. Thanks to Joost, one of our most loved sporting events now has a place on Web 2.0. Scheckter's excellent 7th place finish illustrates just how Joost the budding star, his sponsors and his car are. The son of racing legend Jody Scheckter, Tomas.
More to Come
Joost and racing fans have a lot to look forward to as Joost and IndyVison intend to add more channels soon. Today was a monumental event for Web 2.0 fans too, as Joost speedily ushers in a new Web era. Joost currently features over 150 channels of quality broadcast programming offering Joost users free, quality programming. Joost has meticulously added programming; technical advances and user utility since we first tested the innovation back in January and previewed ?The Venice Project” in December. Joost has come a very long way from an idea to perhaps Web 2.0's most groundbreaking innovation. We congratulate everyone at Joost and the IndyVision Team for their exemplary efforts. Invitations for Indy Car and Joost fans are available here.

Hi Billy,
I love the “really fast” cars of Indy. Some don’t like it that Joost spent some of their money on racing and major branding, but I think if ties Web 2.0 to the physical world and in this case is super appropriate as Joost race cars is about as Joost as it gets. The hundreds of millions of viewers does not hurt a TV network either. :o)
Ever seen Kangaroo TV for Nascar?
