Timewasting is a non-issue here. If someone's a timewaster they'll waste time whatever. Blocking their e-gossiping means they'll walk down the hall and bother someone else, taking two employees out of the equation. If you can't tell whether someone is a productive employee or not other than by monitoring their internet usage, then your ccompany needs better internal performance measures.
What's ore serious is the level of threat people are exposing themselves and their companies to by using these sites. That's more cause to ban them.

I work in the Federal building in Austin for the USDA and they blocked Facebook and Myspace from our computers. If you log onto a site they think you shouldn't be on, they literally block it within a few minutes! I feel like I'm in North Korea or something haha. DOWN WITH CENSORSHIP! By the way, nice blog Michael. It's good to hear from you!
