Silicon Valley’s Most Prized Female Faces, Ranked?

Paul Glazowski,

digasvgirllogoI’m not one to (publicly) pass subjective judgment on the physical properties of particular individuals’, be they of the Malibu coterie or whathaveyou, or advise you to do so. But as a reporter/opinionator of all things Web-related at the service of you, dear weblog reader, I feel it incumbent of me to give you the lowdown on the latest twist/derivative to be borne of the age-old, almost-entirely-unsubstantive Internet invention known by the name Hot or Not.

Yes, in the oh-so-shallow vein of the famous (or is it infamous?) ranking system that made it entirely too easy to vote up or down (mostly) anonymous individuals by their “graphics-based” profiles, some enterprising individual(s) has erected (whether pun intended is really up to you) a venue whose sole purpose is as clearly depicted as its title: Dig a Silicon Valley Girl.

That’s right, folks. At Dig a Silicon Valley Girl, you are greeted with an ever-expanding collection of female faces - with proven/purportedly geeky interests – known to roam the land where hotspots and transistors reign supreme, and it’s your duty to offer up your vote for those you deem worthy of promotion to the front page – or, if said pick(s) is/are already present atop the heap (sorry, couldn’t think of a better word), to ensure they remain where they stand. Or lay. Whichever you think works best.

There’s not much to Dig a Silicon Valley Girl – which I suppose is to be expected, frankly – but it’s certainly a right Digg knockoff if there ever was one. Which means it’s got a decent looks, thematically speaking. And, if I’m honest, I’d much prefer to venture to this techie-friendly locale than to its original inspiration. (That is, if I were to venture to any such site at all. Which I wouldn’t. Scout’s honor. Of course, if I remember my history correctly, I never donned the designation of Scout, but never you mind that little discrepancy.)

If you want my two cents on the subject at hand, the current ranking of the ‘Top Today’ list appears a tad…. Alright, you know what? I won’t go there. You decide for yourselves which lass in the growing list gets voted to the top. I’ll play the neutral observer as is assumed of me, and thus remain able to maintain some measure of journalistic integrity, or whatever the hell one calls it these days.

So have your incredibly shallow fun, using your cursor to determine who gets crowned “queen geek” and whatnot. Just remember, looks aren’t everything. How well she codes is what matters most!
