Young Balladeer Pays Tribute To Social News Site Digg.com

Paul Glazowski,

So, how’d you spend your pseudo-religio-slash-gungho-consumero holiday break? Watched “It’s a Wonderful Life” for the upteenth time? Had your standard overfill of the eggnog once more? Finally put to paper a solemn vow to wreak damage upon all the world’s sweater makers?

We at Profy did what we do best. We spent our precious free moments away from word processors trawling the Web for lots and lots of digital junk (food). And, like plenty other Internet fanatics who double as Digg dogmatists, we happened upon a 2.5-minute video clip featuring a Ms Kina Grannis, six-string in hand, waxing lyrical and musical about her favorite social news website.

And in the tradition of blogospheric resonance (it’s an “if everyone else can do it, so can we” kind of thing), we bring you our two cents on the little ballad.

It’s enjoyable!

Okay, you of course have to disabuse yourself of the notion that the tune will be anything other than a geeky tribute, because to expect any more will simply leave you wholly disappointed. gottadiggIt’s something created by individual of a high-school-ish impression – backed by equally high-school-ish harmonics – and the product is essentially that. A nifty jingle, more or less. We certainly wouldn’t go so far as to second Mr Michael Arrington’s opinion of the song being “pretty damned good”. But it’s not the worst YouTube delight to surface in the past twelve months, either. It’s good. Not “damned good.” Good.

Alas, you know what is to follow, don’t you? Yessirree. You can bet your Digg-lovin’ (or Digg-hatin’, if that’s how you roll) behind that the laptop-totin’ duo in that very family-friendly podcast put together by Revision3 will be spending a few minutes during their next session spotlighting Kina’s clip. That’s for sure. Which we can totally understand. Unfortunately, they may – through no fault of their own; the alchy is really to blame – venture off on a tangent and focus not on the content produced but the producer(s) in profile themselves.

Don’t have a clue what we mean exactly? Wait for the next episode. We dare say if Kevin and Alex manage to steer the ship free of juvenile quips as to the nature of Ms Grannis’ appearance (as well as the background support), we’ll be thoroughly surprised.

Either way, no worries. ‘Tis all in good fun, right? Right….
