Skitch Adds Twitter Support

Okay, I'll admit it. I love Skitch. And I've been hoping they would do something new that would give me even the tiniest excuse to write about them. Of course, I had to read all about it on the Twitter blog, because they didn't send anything out to their users, but I can only assume it's because they didn't want to brag. Skitch, you see, has added My Twitter, which allows you to send your image link directly to Twitter as a Tweet.

For those of you using PCs, Skitch the program is one more reason to be jealous of those of us using Macs. Skitch allows you to grab images, whether already on your machine, or taking a screen grab, edit it right in the app, and then drag it wherever you want the image to end up: email or desktop. If you'd rather share it online or Tweet it, just click the “Webpost” button and send it directly to your (free!) account on Skitch.com for easy sharing. Skitch allows you to save your image as one of several file types including .jpg and .png, meaning you no longer have to go through the painful process of using Grab and then reopening your image in an image editor to save as something other than a TIFF file.

With My Twitter, however, Skitch.com allows even Windows users to use the service. Simply sign up for a Skitch.com account, which you can use to upload your images and share them just like the Mac users can. The folks at plasq give eight reasons Windows users should join the Mac folks on Skitch.com:

• View and comment on your images created by friends, co-workers & peers . This can be a lot of fun, especially when you use live image comments.

All you have to do is enable your Skitch.com account to post to your Twitter account. And with Skitch.com's other new feature, My MailDrop, you can upload your images to your account using a private email address, meaning you can post from your mobile phone. The whole process is so unbelievably easy I think Skitch will soon have a lot more Windows users begging for a Windows version of the app. Until then, I'll try to refrain from gloating.
